IPv4 addresses consist of 32 bits, allowing for a maximum of 4.29 billion addresses. For example: 127.0.0.1
IPv6 addresses consist of 128 bits, allowing for a maximum of 340 undecillion addresses. For example: 2001:db8:85a3:8d3:1319:8a2e:370:7348
IP stands for Internet Protocol, a fundamental concept for the World Wide Web since 1989.
